Hello Peter,
Thank you for posting here.
According to your description, I understand that you get error message
about RRAS. If I have misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to
let me know.
Based on my research, I suggest we try the following steps to see if we can
resolve this issue:
1. Please installed all service packs and update for SBS
2. Please confirm the network settings are correct. Go through the follow
KB and Rerun CEICW again carefully.
How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825763/en-us
3. As we know, some antivirus software may cause this error. Please try to
disable any antivirus software on SBS to test this issue.
4. Please do clean boot to isolate this problem from 3rd-party software
To clean boot the SBS, please use the steps below:
a. Click Start, click Run, and then in the Open box, type "MSCONFIG"
(without the quotation marks). Click OK.
b. In the System Configuration Utility (MSConfig) window, click to select
the Selective Startup button.
c. Click to clear the check mark from the "Load startup items" below
Selective Startup.
d. Click the Services tab, click to check the "Hide All Microsoft Services"
box, and remove all the check marks from the remained Non-Microsoft
Services. Please note that the Exchange services could be marked as
non-Microsoft. Please do not disable those services.
e. Click OK to close the MSConfig window. Click Yes when you are asked to
restart your computer in order to enable the changes.
f. After restarting, please check whether this issue will reoccur.
g. If there are no more problems, please use the above steps to enable
services and startup items one by one in order to figure out the root cause
of this issue.
Note: Please understand that our newsgroup is an issue based service,
meaning we usually respond to one question/issue per post. This will lessen
the confusion for both of us, as well as ensure that our results are
accurate and not a result of a test for a different question. Therefore, I
will work with you on the first question in this post (the RRAS issue).
Regarding the additional question (companyweb issue), I suggest you create
a new post for getting more quick assistance.
If the issue persists, please kindly help me collect some information for
further investigation:
1. What make you notice this error?
2. Run command "ipconfig /all > c:\ipconfig_sbs.txt" on SBS, send the files
c:\ipconfig_sbs.txt to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
3. Save the application event log and system event log as evt files on the
problematic machines and send to my mailbox: v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
4. Gather system information:
a. Click Start and then Run.
b. Type in "msinfo32" without the quotations and click OK.
c. Once System Information is up and running, click File and then Save.
Save the system information to a .nfo file. Send the file to me.
Hope these steps will give you some help.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)
