Hi,
Thanks for posting in our newsgroup.
From your description, I know that you cannot send or receive faxes. Whenyou open Microsoft Fax service Manager, right click Fax(local) and select
Properties, uncheck disabled items, you get "unexpected error " . If I am
off-base, please don¡¯t hesitate to let me know.
Please take the following steps to narrow down this problem:
Step 1: Please check the archive folder for the fax.
In Microsoft Fax Service Manager, right click Fax (Local), click
Properties, click the Inbox tab, make sure that the Archive folder is set
correctly. (By default, it should be "C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\Inbox". The
Administrators and "network Service" should have full control on the
corresponding folder.)
Step 2: In addition, you may also click the sent Items tab to verify the
archive folder again. (By default, it should be "C:\fax\archive".)
Step 3: Please take the following steps to remove and then reinstall the
Fax component.
1. Click Start, point to Control Panel and click Add or Remove Programs.
2. Select Windows Small Business Server 2003 and then click Change/Remove.
Click Next in the Setup Wizard.
3. On the Windows Configuration page, click Next.
4. On the Component Selection page, in the Action column, change Fax
Services to Remove and then click Next.
5. On the Component Summary page, click Next. Go through the wizard to
remove Fax Services.
6. Repeat the steps to install Fax Services; note that change Fax Services
to Install in step 4.
Note: When you reinstall the Fax component, SBS 2003 CD 1 is needed.
If the problem persists, pleas take your time to collect the following
information for further research:
MPS Report
1) Download MPS report tool from:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_SETUPPerf.EXE
2) Run the MPSRPT_SETUPPerf.exe on the server box.
3) Wait for 10~15 minutes.
4) Open Windows explorer, navigate to
%SYSTEMROOT%\MPSReports\Setup\Reports\cab\
5) Send the .cab file to v-robeli@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with subject: 38786158-fax
console.
I am looking forward to hear from you.
If you need further assistance, please don¡¯t hesitate to let me know.
Best regards,
Robert Li(MSFT)
