RE: Remote Access Wizard Error

Hi Terrence,
Thanks for your response. I am actually already on Windows Server 2003
Service Pack 2. Did not see a Windows Small Business Server 2003 Service Pack
2, and the link to Win SBS 2003 SP 1 seems broken.

My version info:
Version 5.2 (Build 3790.srv03_sp2_gdr.070304-2240: Service Pack 2)

There were severe warnings about removing a service pack, what do you
recommend? Should I remove Service Pack 2?

Thanks,
Richard

Hello Richard,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand that you get error "An error
occurred while creating the Connection Manager Configuration package file."
when you run Remote Access Wizard. If I have misunderstood the problem,
please don't hesitate to let me know.

Based on my research, this is a known issue when you install windows 2003
sp1 on SBS 2003.

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

1. Remove Windows Server 2003 SP1. To do this, follow these steps:

a. Click Start, point to Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove
Programs.

b. In the Add or Remove Programs dialog box, click Windows Server 2003
Service Pack 1, and then click Remove.

c. In the Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 Removal Wizard, click Next to
remove the service pack.

2. Run the Remote Access Wizard again. To do this, follow these steps:

a. Click Start, and then click Server Management.

b. In the console tree, click Internet and E-mail.

c. In the details pane, click Configure Remote Access.

d. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the wizard.

Meanwhile, this problem is corrected in Windows Small Business Server 2003
SP1. Therefore, if you do not want to remove windows 2003 sp1 from SBS
2003, we suggest you install SBS 2003 sp1 on your SBS:

Hope these steps will give you some help.

Thanks and have a nice day!
