joining xp to sbs domain: manual vs. connectcomputer

So can somebody please tell me the difference between the 2 methods of
joining an XP machine to my 2003 SBS domain. Are there things that the
connectcomputer method does that the manual way does not. And by
manual, i mean going to my computer properties, computer name tab. Is
there a reason why I should be using the connectcomputer way over the
manual way?
