RE: RWW Issue

Hello Customer,

Thank you for posting here. And thanks for Richard's inputs.

According to your description, I understand that you can not access one
client via RWW or RDP. If I have misunderstood the problem, please don't
hesitate to let me know.

Based on my research, Richard is correct, we have to ensure the RDP is
enable on this client. I suggest we try the following steps to see if we
can resolve this issue:

1. Use the following steps to start Remote Desktop service on this client:

a. Right click My Computer on client, select Properties.

b. Click Remote tab, tick Enable Remote Desktop on this computer

c. Select Remote Users button, please add domain users group to the box.

d. Click OK twice to finish.

2. Please disable this client XP firewall temporary, or ensure the XP
firewall does not block the port 3389 for RDP.

a. Open control panel-> windows firewall on this client

b. Select Exceptions tap, please tick the option Remote Desktop

c. Click OK to finish.

Hope these steps will give you some help.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Best regards,

Terence Liu(MSFT)

|
| I have a small sbs network with 5 xp pro desktops all patched, up to
| date.
|
| I have one desktop that I just replaced with a new dell pc.
| This desktop is joined to the domain, can see shares, etc, working via
| dhcp, on the same subnet as all the other machines.
|
| I am running trend micro a/v and have an ISA firewall on the sbs
| server
| Problem is for this one desktop I cannot connect to it via RWW nor can
| I remote desktop into it.
|
| When I try to rww in it says connection couldn't be established make
| sure the computer is on, which it is, also the remote tab on the
| desktop is enabled to allow remote connections.
|
| When I try to use remote desktop to connect i get an error saying
| Remote connections might not be enabled or the computer might be too
| busy to accept incoming connections
|
| In the system log on this desktop I have been getting a dnsapi warning
| as follows:
|
| ---
| The system failed to register host (A) resource records (RRs) for
| network adapter
| with settings:
|
| Adapter Name : {4C6C5034-7F3E-4C0A-BBED-0599033BF773}
| Host Name : longi1
| Primary Domain Suffix : LongiEng.local
| DNS server list :
| 192.168.16.2
| Sent update to server : 192.1.1.1
| IP Address(es) :
| 192.168.16.16
|
| The reason the system could not register these RRs was because the
| DNS server failed the update request. The most likely cause of this is
| that the authoritative DNS server required to process this update
| request has a lock in place on the zone, probably because a zone
| transfer is in progress.
|
| You can manually retry DNS registration of the network adapter and
| its settings by typing "ipconfig /registerdns" at the command prompt.
| If problems still persist, contact your DNS server or network systems
| administrator.
| -----
|
| I performed the steps listed in the microsoft kbb via gpedit but it
| didn't seem to help.
|
| This desktop has been added to the domain via connectcomputer and
| appears fine otherwise, except it cannot be pinged from the sbs
| server.
|
| Appreciate any help as this is driving me crazy....
