And popbeamer... I think this passes it onto the SMTP route, assuming you dont have xwall. If this is correct, (as I dont use it) could be a good reason for popbeamer. GFI mail essentials has built in spam filter, pop3 connector and disclaimer to name a few.

All I know for sure at this point is that spam has dropped to zero and it is sent to the Archive folder.
And that I use POP3 and IMF.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555602 2nd question from the end
also... http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=imf+pop3&btnG=Search&hl=en gives more detailed explanations i.e pop3 passes mail straight to CDO bypassing SMTP filters.
I dont use popbeamer (prefer GFI mailessentials) but http://www.popbeamer.com/ says xwall is the spam add on ?
<wedor> wrote in message news:%23JIJ8rGfHHA.1220@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" If you implement IMF then this

I keep reading this but do not actually find it to be true, I curently collect my mail via POP3 using PopBeamer and have IMF enabled and it does indeed filter the mail.
Maybe the use of PopBeamer makes this different, I don't honestly know.
"POP" <iknowyouwant@xxxxxxxx> wrote in message news:eJPIuoGfHHA.3960@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxIn addition... that link is not supported by microsoft.
Also, POP3 connector in Microsoft is frought with problems. It was designed as a temporary measure whilst testing or SMTP is being implemented. Just search this NG ( not newsreader version i.e OE or WM but web version, newsreader only hold a few months)
Lost emails, also it doesn't support BCC. If you implement IMF then this doesn't work using POP3.
From a security issue you are sending username and password as clear text over the internet... is this not comprimising your company data ?
All business email should be SMTP.
If you need to stay on pop3 (some ISP dont support so you should change ISP) then popbeamer or GFImailessentials are recommended. Dont forget about clear text though.

Thanks.
I found the following instructions at
http://www.serverforumz.com/POP3-connector-make-check-frequently-15-minutes-ftopict46337.html
but haven't tried them out:
1. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Network\POP3
Connector"
2. On the "Edit" menu, point to "New", and then click "DWORD Value".
3. Type "ScheduleAccelerator" (without the quotation marks) as the entry
name, and then press ENTER.
5. On the "Edit" menu, click "Modify".
6. In the "Value data" box, type the value that you want, and then click
"OK". To determine the polling interval, the value that is configured on the
"Scheduling" tab in the GUI is divided by the value that you type for the
ScheduleAccelerator entry. For example, if a 15 minute interval is specified
in the GUI and you set the value of the ScheduleAccelerator entry to 3, the
connector will poll ever five minutes.
7. Quit Registry Editor
PS: it took me about 60 seconds to find this info using google, maybe you
should try it sometime.
