Thanks for posting back.

we should clarify more things, contact mostly be used for forwarding to an
external email address, so if you set the same company domain for the
contact, there is unexpected problem.

In your scenario, I think you can create user instead of contact,though
these users located at remote site. Do you think the remote user have
difference with the local user?

you can add all the users to the distribution list regardless of remote
site or local site.

I mean you can treat them the same way, the remote users are also domain
user,they also have mailbox on the server,they can access their mailbox by
RWW and OWA,or VPN,they can also join the distribution list as local user
do.

In addition,I do not know what is your company domain web host? another
mail system,not exchange?

I think you can achieve company wide distribution list by exchange,on the
server,create user instead of contact.
