Re: NT Backup Fails to External HD - Insufficient Disk Space

Cris, thank you for your reply. As I mentioned in my original post, I have selected overwrite rather than append. The external hard drive is 300 gigs. Each backup is about 30gigs. For five nights there should be about 100 to 150 gigs free after backup.
TIA
BillP

Then its suggested that you might want to post in one of the regular server groups...

But you don't specify how big your drive is?

Does it have space to hold more than one job?

Did you specify to append or overwrite?

AS a follow-up, this is SERVER 2003, NOT SBS.

I have created five scheduled backup jobs (Monday - Friday) to an external USB hard Drive. The first time each scheduled task is run, it completes sucessfully, but the following week the job will fail with this error message:
"Insufficient disk space. Verify that you have full access to the working folder and there is disk space available."
If I manually delete the previous weeks nightly back up then the job will once again complete successively. When I created each backup job, I chose, "Overwrite existing backup". Additionally, there is PLENTY of free space available on the external HD even after the five weekly backups.
It appears to me that NTbackup is seeing the previous weeks nightly backup and then refusing to overwrite it. Any ideas?
Here is the command line for Friday that is being executed:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntbackup.exe backup "@C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.fabrics\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\Friday.bks" /n "Friday.bkf created 4/9/2007 at 12:58 PM" /d "Set created 4/9/2007 at 12:58 PM" /n "Friday.bkf created 4/9/2007 at 12:58 PM" /v:no /r:no /rs:no /hc:off /m normal /j "Friday" /l:s /f "F:\BackupWHSE\Friday\Friday.bkf"
TIA
BillP
