Re: Full Internet name

Yes, it's the external IP address that your ISP assigns to your account. Ask them if you have a static or dynamic. If it's a static give that to the hosting company. If it's dynamic, you'll have to go with another company like http://www.dyndns.com/ to create the A record and then use a utility to update that record as the IP address changes

Costas,

Thank you for the quck reply. I didn't understand that I had to have the
ISP create a A and MX record.

Since the internal router is running NAT I assume the IP address I would
provide would be the external router IP, correct?

Brian

Call the company that hosts your email server and give them the IP address
of your server your are installing. I assume that you have a static IP
address (if not then you need to do something different). Ask them to
create an A record (and give them a name for your server ... e.g.
'myserver'). When they do that, you will be able to ping your server by
using: myserver.conkolami.org

That's the full Internet name for your server.

When your server is complete, call the hosting company again, and ask them
to create an MX record to point to your server (or change the MX record that
currently points to their own servers). That will make the emails coming to
your server
