The server is hung while backing up First Storage Group.
When I say Hung, I mean completely frozen
Any Ideas ?
This wouldn't happen to be an HP with the onboard SATA Raid
controller would
it?
That's an issue I had with a couple of them. HP says to update the
BIOS and disable USB 2.0. I thought that was unacceptable, so I
edited the backup file to skip backing up exchange and used exmerge
instead.
That's not a good long-term solution, though, and won't help you in a DR
situation. You need to do full online backups of the information stores so
you purge your committed transaction logs - don't use circular logging.
btw: just in case you (or someone reading this) don't know, the
backup script is located at Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small
Business Server\Backup\ and is named Small Business Backup Script.bks
Just delete the line that reads:
JET SERVERNAME\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group\
.
