RE: RPC over HTTPS - connection yes, sync. no

First of all, i think it's a problem of user properties. I have created the
user in the past like in a windows 2003 domain via "active Directory User's
and Computers". Yesterday i create a new user with the assistant of server
managemnet console and this one can use RPC over HTTPS without any problems.
So, i thougt i can change the permissions of the existing users with the
assistant using the template fpr mobile users, but i get an error message
(look below). So i change the membership of these users manually (Mobile
users, Remote Web Workplace Users) and it seems to be OK but very slowly.
Could this be a problem of the mailbox size (between 2 -6 GB). Would it help,
if i delete the existing offline outlook store and recreate ist via RPC over
https in the LAN ? Or is there another problem, i can't see yet ? The user, i
created yesterday has no problems, but a nearly empty mailbox.

Here is the error message of the Assistant:

Hi AS,

Thanks for posting here.

From the description, I understand the issue is that RPC over https do not
work,If I am off base, please don't hesitate to let me know.

I.Please check your certificate on the server according to the following
steps

1. In Microsoft Internet Explorer, connect to the RPC server. For example,
type https://www.server_name.com/rpc in the Address bar of the Web browser,
and then press ENTER.

Note The server_name placeholder references the RPC server name or the
secure server name.

2. Double-click the padlock icon that is located in the lower-right corner
of the Web browser.

3. Click the Details tab.

4. Note the information in the following fields:

• Valid to

The Valid to field indicates the date until which the certificate is valid.

• Subject

The data in the Subject field should match the site name.

Please check and make sure certificate name should match your site name,
otherwise, there will be not match error.

In addition, Please refer to the following KB article

Error message when Outlook 2007 tries to connect to a server by using an
RPC connection or an HTTPS connection: "There is a problem with the proxy
server's security certificate"

II.how you configured the RPC over https? I suggest that you refer to the
following steps to re-configure RPC over https:

a. Firstly please ensure that you have run the CEICW wizard to enable
firewall and publish the "Outlook via the internet", "Remote Web Workspace"
to internet by opening port 443 in the firewall.

Note: the FQDN that you type in the "Web server name" box in the "Web
Server Certificate" page must be the same name that you use to connect to
the Web site from the Internet. For example, if the URL that you use to
connect to RWW is <https://aabb.com/remote>, type "aabb.com" in the "Web
server name" box.

b. And then logon the client to open the RWW site (https://FQDN/remote) and
click the link for "Configure Outlook via Internet" on the right of the RWW
homepage. Then you can follow the instructions to configure the Outlook
client.
