SBS2003, 1 NIC, dhcp and dns on server, behind Cisco routers,
switches, and Pix firewall. All working bueno until sometime over
night. No changes made to setup any time recently, although did
change referenced DNS servers (was using my ISP's ISP's...Level3)
last week after a fire made some of Level3's server unreachable for a
day or so.
All workstations and mobile devices recieve email and can ping ISP's
dns servers, but cannot surf internet. Only "information" message in
DNS log is:
"The DNS server could not signal the service "NAT". The error was
1168. There may be interoperability problems between the DNS service
and this service."
I do not see a "NAT" service either started or stopped.
nslookup www.yahoo.com (as well as other fqdn's) yield "request to
myserver.mydomain.local timed-out"
So it seems my DNS is not functioning, but there's only the one
message (above) in logs and the service appears to running.
Anybody? Anybody?
thanks!
You don't have RRAS installed, do you?
Post an unedited ipconfig /all from the server (and from a workstation).
