RE: ICW Error

Hi Alex,

Thanks for updating.

I am happy to know the problem is resolved. I'd like the make a summary of
the post.

Problem: You get error running the CEICW wizard to configure e-mail.

Error 0x80070003 returned from call to Restricting exhchangeoma to local
server only().

Error 0x80070003 returned from call to CEMailCommit::Commit()

Cause: The issue is caused by improper Exchange installation or a link
broken
between Exchange with IIS.

Solution: Reinstall Exchange with SBS 2003 CD2.

For future postings, I would like to list the following information as a
guideline when submitting new posts in the future. This information will
help us to understand the issue and situation more quickly. Thank you!

1. Has the server/client/product ever worked?

2. If so, what changed?

3. What service packs and updates were applied?

4. What are the steps to reproduce the problem?

5. Does it happen the same way on any other systems?

6. Please provide the exact error message with any screenshots, if possible.

If you need any assistance in the future, please feel free to post in our
newsgroup.

Have a nice day.

Best regards,

Robert Li(MSFT)

<Hi Alex,
<
<Thanks for posting in our newsgroup.
<
<From your description, I know that you when you run the CEICW, you have
<error configure the E-mail. If I am off-base, please don't hesitate to let
<me know.
<
<I researched ICW log, I found many errors and most of them were ignored by
<the system. At the end of the log, I found "Error 0x80070003 returned from
<call to CEMailCommit::Commit()". This may be the cause of the issue.
<
<Based on my research, the error code 0x80070003 means "The specified path
<couldn't be found". This issue always caused by improper Exchange
<installation or a link broken between Exchange with IIS.
<
<Currently, in order to troubleshoot this issue, I would like to suggest
<that you first check in the IIS manager to see if there is a default web
<site and also make sure that all the expected virtual directories for
<OWA/OMA are listed there.
<
<If it is not the case, to make sure it's not a link broken issue, I would
<like to suggest that you reinstall Exchange as the following steps:
<
<Important: Please first make a full backup for the SBS 2003 Server.
<
<Backing Up and Restoring Windows Small Business Server 2003
<http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=49916
<
<1. Switch to the SBS 2003 CD2, and then run "setup /reinstall".
<2. Choose to 'Reinstall' against all the valid listed components in the
<pop-up page, and then start the reinstallation.
<3. Choose 'Yes' when prompting to overwrite the newer version files.
<4. Once the installation is completed, install Exchange 2003 service
packs.
<5. And then, reinstall SBS 2003 services packs.
<6. Rerun CEICW which will recreate the OMA and Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
<directories.
<
<If the problem still exists, please kindly help me collect the following
<information for further research:
<
<1. MPS Report
<
<1) Please download the MPSRPT_Exchange.EXE from the following link and
then
<run this tool to gather some information from the problematic computer:
-
<88b7-f9c79b7306c0&displaylang=en
<2) Double-click on the MPSRPT_Exchange.EXE file.
<[Note] This process may take some time; however, it will not have a
<negative effect on the performance.
<3) A CAB file will be generated in the
<%systemroot%\MPSReports\Setup\Reports\Cab directory called
<%COMPUTERNAME%_MPSReports.CAB. The CAB file will contain the reports
<generated by the MPS Reporting Tool.
<
<2. Filemon and Regmon logs
<
<Download the Filemon application from <
<http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/filemon.mspx >
<Download the Regmon application from <
<http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Regmon.ms
p
<x >
<
<Monitor the system:
<
<1) Before you run the CEICW, run the Filemon and Regmon application.
<2) Begin to run the Wizard.
<3) When the issue occurs, stop the filemon and regmon application, email
me
<the log file.
<
<3. Send all the logs from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Integration\Windows
<Small Business Server 2003\Logs to my mailbox (you can zip them to make
the
<email smaller).
<
<Please send the information to v-robeli@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with subject:
<-38439025- ICW Error.
<
<If you encounter any difficulties or have any concerns, feel free to let
me
<know. I look forward to your update.
<
<Have a nice day.
