The drives are set up as 2 SCSI 300gb Raid 1 drives. Not sure of the speed
but I would suspect at least 7200 if not 10,000. The logical is set up as
one single C: 300gb drive for everything which obviously holds the page file.
They are running an Intel SRCSAS144E controller but I cannot find any
utilities when booted up that let me see the physical drives.
Page file is 2046-4092 for initial and max and right now it is at 2046 in
size.

Another issue to look at is page file.
How big and where is it located?

He already has the max of 4 GB installed so increasing memory is not
possible. How many users do you have? What is the type and speed of the
hard drives?

Cidaemon is an indexing service and inetinfo is part of IIS and it is
used for debugging. Just by looking at what you run on that box my guess
is that CRM is the problem which is also using SQL Server. Start with
Task Manager and see which processes take a lot of CPUtime. After that I
would shut down one service at a time and see if performance is
improving. The good thing is the 4 processors but I think you might have
to add more memory on the box.

I have an SBS 2003 Prem server running the standard applications in SBS +
AV
(Panda) + anti-spam (GFI Mail Essentials) + MS CRM. The machine is a 4
proc/4gb Raid 1 setup so it is heavily equipped. My users are telling
me
about issues where things "slow down" such as reading email via their
outlook
or printing etc. When I look into the logs I can see heavy disk
activity +
alot of CPU usage time by cidaemon and inetinfo and my disactivity is
running
about 80%. My Daily server performance report tells me the same things
I am thinking if I can find the cause for the taxing of resources then
all
of the "slow down" issues with users will go away. My question is...
what
would be your SOP for tracking down these issues to isolate the
problems?
What tools/software would you use? If I can get some guidance then I
can get
started?
Thanks!
