Hi Kevin:
Please refer to the instructions for the system. If the drives are mirrored
by a hardware controller, there may be steps you will need to do.
If software mirrored, which I doubt, you must break the mirror, then remove
and replace the drive, then re mirror.

Hi there, I'm managing an HP DL360 G3 server with 2 x 36GB SCSI disks
which are mirrored. This morning I woke to an email from the server
informing me that disk 1 had failed.
The machine otherwise is running perfectly.
Currently I'm sourcing a spare drive.
My 1st question is, having never done this before, can I just remove
the failed drive without shutting the machine down and simply insert
the new drive? Will Windows sort itself out? What pitfalls should I
be aware of?
Thanks in advance, Kevin
Anna, many thanks for the advice. It was very straighforward in the
end.
Despite it being hot-swappable I elected to power off the server.
Removed the failed drive and replaced with the new drive. When
rebooting the HP bios detected the change in the array so I took the
option to rebuild the mirror automatically.
The server continued the reboot. With windows up and running I could
use the HP array tool to check on the mirror rebuild process.
Thanks again, Kevin
.
