Hi Joe,
Thanks for posting here.
From the description, I understand the issue is that WSUS was unable toinstall completely when you are upgrading to R2. If I am off base, please
don't hesitate to let me know.
To allow the install to complete successfully, do the following:
1. please make sure SBS R2 item is not in the Add/Remove Programs
2. Insert SBS 2003 CD #6 and run the following command:
<CDDRIVE>:\WSUS_20\WSUSSetup.exe /v CONTENT_DIR="<WSUSDRIVE>:\WSUS" /d
"INSTANCE_NAME=WSUS"
Where <CDDRIVE> is the drive letter of your CD-ROM, and <WSUSDRIVE> is the
drive letter where you wish for the WSUS data files to be located.
Example: D:\WSUS_20\WSUSSetup.exe /v CONTENT_DIR="E:\WSUS" /d
"INSTANCE_NAME=WSUS"
I am not sure if there is quote, so please try serveral times and refer to
the following below.
d:\wsus_20\wsussetup.exe /d /v CONTENT_DIR="i:\wsus" "INSTANCE_NAME=WSUS"
d:\wsus_20\wsussetup.exe /v "CONTENT_DIR=i:\wsus" /d "INSTANCE_NAME=WSUS"
d:\wsus_20\wsussetup.exe /d /v "CONTENT_DIR=i:\wsus" "INSTANCE_NAME=WSUS"
d:\wsus_20\wsussetup.exe /v CONTENT_DIR="i:\wsus" /d "INSTANCE_NAME=WSUS"
d:\wsus_20\wsussetup.exe /v " CONTENT_DIR="i:\wsus" /d "INSTANCE_NAME=WSUS"
you can try wsussetup/? for detailed information.
3. Re-launch the SBS 2003 R2 Setup and follow the prompts to complete setup
NOTE: The R2 setup will detect that WSUS is already installed during setup.
If the problem even persists, please send me the following information
1.R2setup.log, SBSMSI-updateservices.log located at c:\program
files\Microsoft Integration\Windows Small Business Server 2003\logs
2.Please send me a screenshot of the on screen error for the SBS R2 setup
wizard
3.Please send me the MPS report
a. Visit
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE. to download the file.
b. Run the MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE on the server box.
c. Wait for 10~15 minutes.
d. Open Windows explorer, navigate to
%SYSTEMROOT%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\cab\
e. Send the .cab file directly to me at v-jaluo@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Please compress all the files and send to me at v-jaluo@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
I appreciate your time. Please try my suggestion above and look forward to
your reply.
Have a nice day!
Best regards,
