Hello Mark,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand that Monitoring and reporting
is not work fine after you install windows 2003 sp2. If I have
misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Based on my research, I suggest we try the following steps to see if we can
resolve this issue:

Step 1: Set the ISAPI filter for Default website to default.
===============
1. Open the IIS console and open the properties page of Default Web Site

2. Click to select ISAPI Filters

3. Please delete the stsfltr Filter. The correct and default filters are
listed as followings

SBSFLT C:\inetpub\sbsflt\sbsflt.dll
Fpexedll.dll C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\Web Server Extensions\50\bin\fpexedll.dll
OwaLogon C:\Program
Files\Exchsrvr\ExchWeb\bin\auth\OwaAuth.dll

Step 2: Use the following steps to create correct Web Service Extensions.
================
1. Open IIS, and select Web Service Extensions,

2. Right click "Web Service Extensions" and select Add a new Web Service
extension...

3. Specify "Windows SharePoint Services" as the Extension name.

4. Click Add to add the following DLL to the list.

Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\60\ISAPI\_VTI_ADM\admin.dll
Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\60\ISAPI\_VTI_AUT\author.dll
Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\60\ISAPI\owssvr.dll
Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\60\ISAPI\shtml.dll

5 Tick Set extension status to Allowed, and then click OK.

Then test this issue. If the issue reoccurs, please go to step 3:

Step 3:
=============
1. Make sure IIS_WPG, Local Service and Network Service accounts have Read
& Execute, List Folder Contents, and Read permissions to
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322.

2. Ensure IIS_WPG, Local Service and Network Service accounts have Full
Control permission to
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET Files.

3. Run "iisreset" in command line and then check if the issuer still occurs.

Step 4:
===============
1) Bring up the Services by key in "services.msc" in run box.
2) Check if MSSQL$SBSMONITORING is running.
3) Switch to Log On tab and check if Local system account is the startup
account.

If the issue persists, please try to reinstall monitoring component

Step 5: reinstall monitoring component
================
Note: Please make a full backup of the SBS 2003 server before the following
steps..

Start Windows Explorer, and then locate and rename the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$SBSMONITORING

to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\Old.MSSQL$SBSMONITORING

IV. Use Registry Editor to delete the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Monitoring
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\SBSMonitoring

V. Install the Monitoring component

1. In Add or Remove Programs, select Windows Small Business Server
2003 and then click Change/Remove. The Setup Wizard appears.
2. Click Next.

then click Next.
5. On the Logon Information page, click Next.

7. Click Finish.

If the issue persists, please kindly help me collect some information for
further investigation:

1. Please capture a screenshot on the error pages and send the pictures to
me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

2. IIS log:

a. Open IIS snap-in.

b. Right click Default Web Site and click Properties.

c. Uncheck the "Enable Logging" box and click Apply.

d. Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1 folder and move all files to a
backup location.

e. Check "Enable Logging" box and click OK.

f. Run IISReset command.

g. Reproduce the problem and send the log file in
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1 folder to me for research.

3. IIS Metabase:

1) Download the IIS Resource Kit tools from the following page:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=56FC92EE-A71A-4C73-
B628-ADE629C89499&displaylang=en

2) Install it, run MBExplorer (Metabase Explorer)

3) Right click the "LM" node and choose "Export to file".

4) Specify a file name, specify the password and finish the export.

5) Send the file and the password to v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hope these steps will give you some help.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Best regards,

Terence Liu(MSFT)

| Hi Group,
|
| I just installed a fresh SBS2003 (Pre) Everything went fine with no
errors.
| I have gone through all the steps afterwards to configure the server and
| even
| installed SP2. Prior to installing SP2, the monitoring and reporting
feature
| was
| working, but afterwards it stopped. So I ran the configure wizard and
that
| did
| not work. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling via the add/remove programs
| for
| SBS and that did not work. Uninstalled SP2 and ran the configurations
again
| and it is still not working. Is this a known issue or have I
misconfigured
| something?
| Can someone please advise me on how to resolve this issue.
|
| Thanks,
| Ron
