I am also thinking about moving WSUS also as it has grown so large. It
appears that the database is not near as large as the content folder, about
1 gig versus 11 gig in my case.
To move the content folder, I found this:
http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/library/2686bd2b-910a-479b-961e-cea2a20280241033.mspx?mfr=true
Using the "wsusutil movecontent" command. (Type "/help" or "/?" without
the quotes for help. It is located at "%drive%\Program Files\Update
Services\Tools". It also includes some commands for purging unneeded WSUS
content files which might free up some valuable space.
To move the database, I believe it is performed like moving any database
using the OSQL tool.

Since you do get a choice to choose a path to store updates locally and a
choice of database instances and to choose not to delete anything when
uninstalling, it makes me wonder if it might be easier just to reinstall
WSUS.

Hmmm, I don't recall during the original SBS setup whether that was
separate or not or whether there were options... Will dig deeper.

Thanks!

Well, I'm using WSUS V2.0, and on the install it gave options on where
to put
the files.

I have WSUS and WSUSdataMSSQL$WSUS on the cheap and cheerful drive, and
it
is not backed up. There are no directories on the C:\ drive.

I am pretty certain there are no opportunities to change this once it is
installed. But others may know better ...

From my perspective I don't like having the WSUS data on the C:/
drive
since that data can be so large! I also don't want to have to
download it
again if something would happen to the HD so I have that file on a
backup
schedule for every month.

My question would be where is the WSUS data on your server? Is it on
the
C:/ drive or on another drive/partition?

Do you run WSUS and set it up to download service packs? If so,
Server
2003 SP2 probably took the space. I setup WSUS to dump it's file to
a
big/cheap IDE drive that I don't bother backing up to avoid space
issues
on C.

My C:\ drive has lost over 1Gb of free space after Tuesdays MS
update.
Am I
alone, or are you all finding this.

Any suggestions over what files are now removably redundant?
