2nd internet connection for failsafe

Imagine you have SBS configured (2 nics) with an ADSL internet connection. Now you want to add a cable connection so that if the ADSL fails you still have internet access. How would this be set up? I don't think a 3rd nic would work, so presumably some external box? Of course one could reconfigure manually in the event of a problem, but what would be an automatic solution? It would also be nice to get some benefit from the redundant connection in normal use.
