Re: Exchange Mailbox is SBS 2003

Hi Robert,

Thank you for your reply. I tried it but I got a permission error:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: test
Sent: 3/16/2007 1:17 AM

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

edwincwong@xxxxxxxxx on 3/16/2007 1:17 AM
You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For
assistance, contact your system administrator.
MSEXCH:MSExchangeIS:/DC=local/DC=ECW:ECWSBS

Actually I grand "full control" right to the new mailbox also, I did
the following steps:

0. Create a new user in the AD users and computers snap-in

1. In the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in, on the View
menu,
and click Advanced Features.

2. Right-click the new user account, and then clicks Properties.

3. Click the Security tab, and then click Add.

4. Add the user you want to let him own additional mailbox

5. Grant the allow full control rights to the original user

6. Click the Exchange Advanced tab, and then click Mailbox Rights.

7. Click Add, and add the original user, and then click OK.

8. Select "Allow permission" for the "Read Permissions", "Full
Mailbox
Access", "Change Permission" and "Take Ownership" rights.

In the outlook 2003 of the original user, please click tools -> Email
accounts -> View or Change existing email accounts -> Change -> More
Settings -> Advanced tab -> Add -> Input the alias of new account ->
Click
OK -> Restart the outlook to take effect.
By above settings, the user will have two mailboxes in his outlook.
Both of
them can be operated normally. You can send email from both mailbox
by
specifying the sender. (New message -> open by "From" list -> input
the
other)

I got this instructions from the following:
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.backoffice.smallbiz2000/browse_thread/thread/bb5bef1cf00cb3bc/e6c04041972ba417?lnk=st&q=multiple+email+accounts+for+one+user+in+exchange&rnum=6&hl=en#e6c04041972ba417

Thanks again for your time!

Hi Edwin,

Thanks for posting in our newsgroup.

From your description, I know that you want to create a new Exchange
mailbox without adding news user. If I am off-base, please don¡¯t hesitate
to let me know.

First, I am sorry we cannot create a new Exchange mailbox without adding
news user. The Exchange server is tightly related to Active Directory. When
a E-mail is send to Exchange, it will first query user information from AD.
Instead you can create a Domain user without having mailbox.

If you want to create a mailbox to send mails with different Froms,, you
can do the following to get the aim:

Suppose you use mailbox Sha...@xxxxxxxxxxx, you need to sent e-mail with
From: Users1.contoso.com.

Create a new account with mailbox named as Shard.
Open Active Directory, and then expand to
Domain.local->MyBusiness->Users->SBSUsers.
Right click Properties of User1and selects Exchange General, select
Delivery Options.
Click Add and input Shared. Click OK.
Open Shared¡¯s Outook, create a new e-mail.
Click View on the menu, make sure From Field is checked.
In the From field, input User1.contoso.com.

In this method, you can send a mail with From: User1.contoso.com using
Sha...@xxxxxxxxxxx ¡®s mailbox, but you can see Shared on behalf of user1
in the mail content.

Hope above information helps.

I am not sure if I understand your concern clearly. If you need further
assistance, please don¡¯t hesitate to let me know.

Have a nice weekend.

Best regards,

Robert Li(MSFT)
