RE: RRAS and Adaptor

Hello Customer,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand that you can not make RRAS use
specific adapter you want to obtain DHCP, DNS and WINS address for dial-up
clients. If I have misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let
me know.

Based on my research, I suggest we try the following steps to see if we can
resolve this issue:

Step 1:
You have to rerun the CEICW to make sure your SBS 2003 server have right
network configuration. Go through the follow KB and Rerun CEICW again
carefully.

How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825763/en-us

Step 2:
Please run the Configure Remote Access Wizard to reconfigure the VPN
settings. This wizard will help us automatically configure the VPN function
on the SBS Server.

After you run the CEICW Wizard, please open Routing and Remote Access
console. Right-click the Server Name and choose 'Disable Routing and Remote
Access' option. This option will remove all current RRAS configurations and
stop the service. After doing this, open Server Management console and
navigate to 'Internet and E-mail' snap-in. Click 'Configure Remote Access'
to enable the VPN service.

a) On the Small Business Server 2003-based server, click To Do List in the
left pane of the Server Management console.

b) Under Network Tasks, click Configure Remote Access.

c) Click Next, click Enable Remote Access, click to select the VPN Access
check box, and then click Next.

d) Type the fully qualified public domain name (FQDN) of your server, click
Next, and then click Finish.

e) When the wizard is completed, click Close.

Will the problem be resolved?

If the issue persists, please try to change the IP addresses and network
connection from default adaptor to "the another interface on the NIC (in my
case Wireless LAN)". Will the problem be resolved?

If the issue persists, please kindly help me collect some information for
further investigation:

1. Do you install ISA on your SBS?

2. Please gather outcome of command "ipconfig /all" on VPN client and SBS
when VPN connection established, send the result to me at
v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hope these steps will give you some help.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Best regards,

Terence Liu(MSFT)

| I have a HP Nic with multiple VLANs
| In RRAS the default adaptor is set to the Internal VLAN for its DHCP,
| DNS settings etc.
| The problem is as soon as I set this to the Internal VLAN then close
| RRAS it will change to the another interface on the NIC (in my case
| Wireless LAN)
| This is causing VPN clients to not recieve correct address
| assignments.
| No matter how may times i change it, restart RRAS etc it always
| defaults to incorrect NIC.
| Checked binding order but no joy - anybody help?
