Add exchange to SBS 2003 SP1 with R2

I did not install exchange when I installed SBS based on expert
recommendations. I did, however, install SQL Server 2005 and R2. I
am having trouble with the add/remove programs. When I tried to add
Performance tools to SQL, it showed that SQL was not installed.
Now I am trying to add exchange and I click on the change/remove
button for SBS and eventually get to the "Microsoft Windows Small
Business Server Setup" window. In that window it Says "Windows
Configuration" "You must configure the operating system to proceed
with the installation." "Click next to continue. This will take
approximately 30 minutes." I click on the "More Information" button
and I find out that it is going to change the computer name, install
IIS and SMTP and install Active Directory among other things. It
seems to think that it is a new install. That is, it cannot see that
SBS is already installed.
Is this because of R2? I have R2 in the add or remove programs and R2
is over 100MB while SBS is 50MB. R2 can only be removed. Do I need
to remove R2 in order for the change SBS process to work correctly?
The server is a Dell Poweredge 2850 dual Zeon 64bit platform.
Any help would be appreciated.
