FrontPage Server Extensions - Required?

I'm running SBS 2003 R2 Premium. I discovered that FrontPage Server
Extensions were installed automatically during the SBS installation process,
even though I did NOT install FrontPage (and have no intention of ever doing
so). Are the FP Server Extensions required by SBS for one of it's many
internal functions. Or may I safely uninstall them?

Thanks!
