Re: DCPromo Error

Also when I get to point 2 on your "fix" I cannot open this, as this is what
we're trying to fix...

Hi Luke,

Thanks for updating.

I haven't received your MPS Report yet.

According to the error 1058, please take the following steps to see if the
issue can be resolved:

Step 1: Have you run the CEICW to configure your network settings? Please
re-run the CEICW on the SBS Server as per the following Knowledge Base
article:

825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763

Step 2: Then follow the steps below to see if the network binding order is
configured correctly on SBS server:

1) Right-click My Network Places, and then click Properties.
2) On the Advanced menu, click Advanced Settings.
3) Under Connections, use the up and down arrow buttons to put the
connections in the following order:
- Local Area Connection for the internal adapter
- Local Area Connection for the external adapter
- Remote Access Connections

Step 3: Make sure that the "Bypass traverse checking" right is granted to
the required groups. To do so:

1. On the SBS server, click Start, point to Programs or All Programs,
point
to Administrative Tools, and then click Domain Controller Security Policy.
2. Expand Security Settings, expand Local Policies, and then click User
Rights Assignment.
3. Double-click the "Bypass traverse checking" policy setting.
4. Click to check the "Define these policy settings" box, if the option is
not enabled already.
5. The following groups should be listed for this policy setting:

Administrators
Authenticated Users
Everyone
Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access
If any of these groups are missing, click Add, type the name of the
missing
group, and then click OK.

6. Click OK to close the policy setting.
7. Run the "gpupdate /force" command.

Step 4: Run Dfsutil tool to purge the cache on the servers:

1. Click "Start", click "Run", type "cmd" (without the quotation marks) in
the "Open" box, and then press ENTER.

2. At the command prompt, type "dfsutil /PurgeMupCache" (without the
quotation marks), and then press ENTER.

Note that dfsutil.exe is included with Windows Server 2003 Support Tools.
To install Support Tools, run \\SUPPORT\TOOLS\SUPTOOLS.MSI located on your
Windows Server 2003 CD-ROM. You can also extract it directly from the
\\SUPPORT\TOOLS\SUPPORT.CAB cabinet file.

Please take you time to try the steps.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,

Robert Li(MSFT)
