By the book, you need legal downgrade rights which, AFAIK, MS have done
nothing about in this scenario. In reality, if you have media for SQL2000
just go ahead and install it providing you have a licence for it. Your
Option A will work just fine. You need to make sure you service pack SQL
2000 before it will be any use though....

What is "legal downgrade right media" ? How is it different from the
WSBS2003
SP1 media I already have?
Thanks,
Bryan

The code is irrelevant and will work on either media.

Hi All,
I installed WSBS2003 pre R2 last year and I need to repeat the process
for
another site. The OEM has supplied R2 but I do have copies of the
WSBS2003
SP1 media from the last install. What is the current opinion on
installing a
version of SBS so as to get SQL2000?
Option A: Install R2 but not SQL2005, then install SQL2000 off the SP1
media. Will I be able to successfully use the products codes supplied
with
R2?
Option B: Install SP1 entirely. Again, will I be able to use the
products
codes supplied with R2?
I have a week before the install. Please advise me which way to go.
