In article <97846222-5412-4585-999E-D2B0FA5EFB2F@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>,
Steward@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx says...
The wireless router has 4 ports - one of which is connected to the External
SBS NIC, and ADSL. The problem is that the laptop will not connect to the
internal network using its own NIC. I have tried to join the domain, but I am
unable to ping the server. I have put in a static IP address and still it
won't connect. When I view the LAN Connection on the laptop - it sends
packets but does not recieve any? However if I connect the laptop outside of
the SBS Network I have no problem using the Laptops NIC??
I have therefore come to the conclusion rightly or wrongly that SBS is
infact blocking this device some how, and concluded it was something to do
with the fact that the server kept this device on the external connection
when I re-run the Connect to the Internet Wizard and introduced the local LAN
NIC of the Server, but I am now unable to use this device on the local
network.
Some questions:
1. Does your network diagram look like this? If not, please provide the
correct diagram.
ADSL ->
Router WAN/Internet jack -> Wireless Router -> Router LAN jack ->
Ext NIC -> SBS -> Int NIC ->
Switch -> wired PCs
2. SBS2003 Standard or Premium?
3. If Standard, Basic Firewall enabled?
If Premium, ISA Firewall enabled?
4. When you say "the laptop will not connect to the internal network
using its own NIC" do you mean the laptop's wireless or wired NIC?
[I am traveling and in meetings for the next week so it will probably
take me longer than normal to respond.]
