Hi Jacky,
I am having problems with http over rpc...it was working well for 8 months
not a prob..
suddenly it died...so did OWA...but I fixed OWA by chaning the compression
to none and then doing an iisreset.
I have followed the rpcproxy.dll folder path etc many times...
There is no error message...external users cannot connect to exchange using
rpc over http and they get disconnected in outlook. They authenticate ok...I
ran outlook /rpcdiag anfd I can see it trying to make http connections and
then tcpip and then its diconnected.
..net 1.1 plus all pathces have been installed...
I will set logging as you recommend and install the iis resource kit and
send details..shortly..
Thanks for the help.

Hi Elvis,.
Thanks for posting here.
According to your post, I understand that you failed to use RPC over
http.If I am off-base on that, please let me know
I am not sure how you replace and register the rpcproxy.dll file, please
refer to the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.
Replace and register the Rpcproxy.dll file
the Rpcproxy.dll file may be corrupted. Alternatively, the Rpcproxy.dll
file may not be registered correctly. This problem may occur even though
the path is correctly specified in the properties of the RPC proxy server
extension object. To correct this problem, follow these steps:
a.Replace the Rpcproxy.dll file in the
Drive_Letter:\Windows\system32\rpcproxy folder by using the file from the
following folder:
Drive_Letter:\Windows\system32\dllcache
b.To do this, click Start, click Run, type regsvr32
Drive_Letter:\Windows\system32\rpcproxy\rpcproxy.dll, and then click OK.
for more infomation, please refer to the following KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919092
If the issue persists, please collect the following information to
troubleshoot the issue,
1.what is the exact error message? please capture shootscreen of the error
message and save as jpg file, then send to me at v-jaluo@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
2.Please collect the IIS metabase on the SBS server:
1). On Exchange Server, install .NET Framework Version 1.1:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=262d25e3-f589-4842-
8157-034d1e7cf3a3
2). Install MBExplorer by installing IIS 6 Resource Kit Tools:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=56FC92EE-A71A-4C73-
B628-ADE629C89499
3). Once it is installed, access it from Start, Programs, IIS Resources,
Metabase Explorer.
4). In the left pane, right click ''LM'' (under your server computer name)
to choose ''Export to file'', and then save it as IIS.mbk.
5). Compress this mbk file and send it to me for analysis. Please let me
know if there is any password on the file.
3. Please collect the IIS log on RPC Proxy Server for further analysis:
1). Open IIS MMC on RPC Proxy Server, right click Default Web Site and then
click Properties.
2). Click Website tab and then check Enable logging.
3). With ''W3C Extended Log File Format'', click ''Properties''.
4). Switch to the ''Extended Properties'', and then select to enable All
the logging Options.
5). Stop the Default Website and rename the existing IIS log files under
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1.
6). Restart the Default Website and try to access Exchange via RPC over
HTTP by new Outlook profile to reproduce the problem. (Please ensure the
issue happens so that the error will recorded in IIS Log).
7). Wait for a while so that IIS Log can be synced. Go to the following
folder: C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1.
Please send the files to my working email address: v-jaluo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
By the way, can I confirm with you that you create another post which is
about rpc over https, post id is 38048999,if so,do you think these are
duplicate issues? so we just focus on this post firstly.
I appreciate your time and look forward to your reply.
