Hello all,
I've got a nice discovery update.
I removed my laptop from the domain and joined a workgroup wich I gave the
same name as my domain network without the .LOCAL suffix.
Right now I am able to open folders from other computers on the network and
the other way around.
eg.
From my wireless laptop I can open a folder on a Vista domain workstation oron a XP domain workstation after applying the credentials.
The other way around I can open folders on the domain workstations from my
laptop (wireless) after applying the acount credentials.
So the wireless connection is ok. Communicating both ways.
Now comes.
From my SBS server I am able to open folders on my laptop, but I cannot openfolders on the sbs from my laptop.
I get an error that the domain server is unavailible. It doesnot even asks
for my credentials. Besides that before the error pops up I'll have to wait
appr. 5 minutes.
Normaly on a XP computer the server just asks for my account and of it goes.
Interesting, but I am really starting to get pist off about this Vista
bull-***.
I sure hope my customers will wait before extending their domain networks
with some Vista client.
Can anybody help me with right management on this sbs server for wireless
Vista clients. It must have something to do with that.
Thanks in advance,
Arno

Thanks for the reply..
I checked all the IP and DNS settings on both my SBS and Vista machine over
and over again. Everything looks alright to me.
I made some strange discoveries last night (yes I am sleepless about it).
My Outlook 2007 keeps running over the not working wireless connection! I am
using the build in Exchange server from SBS2003.
Just if I open outlook while being wired it runs. then I unplug so only
wireless is connected outlook keeps running. When I the close outlook and
reopen it again it doesnot come up at all. As soon as I then plug in the wire
again Outlook suddenly pops up again. Funny..........
In my opnion the wireless connection is waiting for some sort of
authetication. Quistion is what. I allready read tons of articles about the
IAS RADIUS servers and certicicates. Problem is my access point supports only
WEP, WPA or WPA2 all PSK.
No change of assigning this access point as a radius client then.
As far as I understood Vista is by default configured for autheticating
against a radius server. Is there any way to disable or change these settings?

Hello
Make sure when you get the wireless connection to the server that the
wireless client is getting the dhcp information from the server so that it
will have the correct dns, wins, ip address and subnet as well as the dns
suffix. Without the correct networking settings it is never going to
function correctly. You can also use tools like userenv logging to
troubleshoot other logon type issues after the networking settings are
verified.
I hope this helps
