Re: Backup Fails: "C: is not a valid drive or you do not have acce

Thank you both for your suggestions.
All the updates, dirvers, firmware were already done. The mb is an Intel
SE7501HG2 with dual SCSI 320 controller, on one channel the HD are mirrored,
second channel is only for tape backup and since the Exabyte was installed we
had nothing but trouble. A second SCSI controller card was installed, but we
suspect that's what caused the Exchange database corruption, so it was
removed. Also with Exabyte, when it works after each cycle of tapes a tape
cleaning must be done, otherwise backup jobs would fail. Not very impressed
with Exabyte. For other SBS servers we use Sony and Quantum and never had a
problem with them. I guess will try another backup drive.

Thanks again.
Daniel

Hi James:

In addition to the suggestions you received from James, I find that Exebyte
does not like their tape drives to be on the same SCSI controller as RAID
hard drives. They maintain that the timing is different, and suggest
strongly that you put their tape drives on a separate SCSI controller, one
that is not intended to be a RAID controller.

Hi Daniel

Since we are able to backup to a network share that would tell us that
NTBackup is working.

I would suggest making sure that the firmware on your tape device is the
most recent available from Exabyte along with the drivers for this device.
You should also ensure that the drivers for the SCSI adapter are fully up
to date.

Thanks

| Hello Everybody,
|
| On a SBS2k3 Premium backup was failing before due to an Exchange
corruption,
| that was fixed with: Eseutil /P Eseutil /D Isinteg -fix -test
alltests.
|
| Now the backup fails while backing up C: drive. In the event logs I get

tried

|
| If I backup using NTbackup I get same errror, however if I backup to a
file

|
| The tape backup is an Exabyte VXA-3, tried to uninstall, reinstall but
same

| Has anyone encountered this problem before? or do you have suggestions?
