Hello Nick

There are a couple of options available. You can use a sharepoint site and
document library to share files across the internet. The other option is
to
use web folders an put them in the default website of the server. I am
using both technologies at home with no problems. Both technologies can
use
SSL to secure the traffic and you can use permissions inside share point
to
ACL down the contents and NT Permissions on the web Shared folders.

I hope this helps

Is there a "how to" on this? I have a client with the need to share files
with their clients.

I thought about password protected directories on their external website,
but the main problem is file management and password maintenance.
