The only change on the routers in the past 2 years was this past weekend on
Sunday when I finalized my swing and took down the old PDC and brought in
the SBS box - different IP address, so I ran no ip helper-address to clear
the old, then ip helper-address 192.168.0.13 to add SBS to the dhcp allow
list on the shop router. Then wr mem and voila - all was happy. No firmware
updates or anything like that, and I did reboot both routers just to be sure
it wasn't some kind of flakiness there.

Windows firewall - on the SBS server? Windows Firewall cannot run because
ICS is not running blah blah blah. On the clients firewall is enabled, with
exception for File and Printer Sharing via Group Policy. And again, all
computers can see shares and printers at their location just fine - just not
across the WAN link. Except for the servers, everyone sees them.

Oh, BTW, the AV was reinstalled, it was a version update thing from Trend
CSM 3.0 to 3.5. Verified that the Trend Firewall is not being deployed to
the clients - just the antivirus and Anti-spyware pieces.

Blech. Any other ideas? Failing all else I'll come in tomorrow and reboot
the server just for giggles, who knows maybe that will do the trick,
although I can't imagine why. Stranger things have happened! (Can't reboot
during business hours except for dire emergency).

I was in the RWW thread as well - none of those changes seem suspect.

Any changes on the routers between subnets lately? Firmware updates, etc?
You said file share browsing on servers is working OK - is Windows
firewall now enabled (possibly as a result of the removal of the client
AV?)

Nothing that I can think of! I was trying to get RWW working externally,
(see thread in this ng subject: RWW not working externally (R2)) and
Gregg Hill and Cris Hanna were helping me to t-shoot. In looking through
all the posts in case I forgot something I can't see anythign I might
have done which should affect this - the only thing I changed was
permissions for remote access. And remember - I'm trying to connect as
Administrator, so it's not a permissions thing. I rebooted the server
this morning after uninstalling antivirus client software, but there were
no errors in the event log on reboot.

So weird...

Nope, regular share, using name or ip also fails. Restarted Net Logon
and Computer Browser services on the SBS server (the only DC), no
errors, no joy.

network neighborhood..

the c$ share is an administrative share - have you also tested using a
manmade share? Does \\1.2.3.4\share work at all?

Have you stopped and restarted netlogon or computerbrowser on any DC's
yet?

OK I'm ready to tear my hair out here. As of this morning, users
at the
Office cannot view shares on workstations at the Shop and
vice-versa.
Users at the both locations can, however, view shares on the
servers (SBS
2003, Win2003 and Win2000). Nothing has changed that I know of - I
was
working on getting RWW access functional yesterday (not fixed yet)
and
I'm fairly certain I didn't change any settings other than
permissions
and IUSR password on the SBS server, and reran CEICW (no errors).

Verified the following:

1. All workstations can browse all others on their subnet.
2. All workstations can resolve all computernames via nslookup.
3. All workstations can access servers regardless of location.
4. No workstation can browse any other workstation not on their
subnet,
even when the logged in user is a domain admin. Internet access
and email
are functional.
5. All IPs are assigned via DHCP, scopes were not altered since
this was
working yesterday. Release/renew and rebooting do not resolve the
problem.
6. All computers are correctly registered in DNS and WINS, and
have DNS
and WINS server info in IP properties via DHCP, matching that of
the
servers' manually assigned settings.
7. All computers are available from either subnet using Remote
Desktop
Connection.
8. All computers can be pinged via either name or IP address.
9. Both routers have been rebooted, verified router configuration
against
backed up config files, nothing changed there either.
10. All workstations are XP Pro SP2.

Below is the ipconfig /all info from a workstation and a server, I
can
see no difference other than one is DHCP and one is static.

What the #$%@ am I missing here?
