I do not see why not.

Just a quick question - the device is never unplugged as it's internal - so
I assume just pressing the ejct button on the cartridge once its complete
should be ok?????

Hi K:
I see this problem with NTBACKUP and removable storage devices all the
time,
not only on SBS. Here's how I resolved the issue.
1. Go to Device Manager and locate the removable drive under Disks Drives
2. Right-Mouse-Click on the drive and select Properties and go to the
Policies tab.
3. Select the "Optimize for Performance" option instead of the first
(default) one.

This should resolve the issue permanently.

NOTE: By enabling the "optimize for performance" option, you will need to
eject the device first using the icon on the system tray if you want to
disconnect it. If you do not do this, you may recieve a "delay write
failed"
error if you just unplug the device.

Hope this helps,

The REV drive is internal, so the only thing changing is the cartridge!!
Consistancy of the problem is the real pain and its infrequent, but the
client says "Knowing that a backup has not been done is very worrying,
and
it should not happen this way should it?"

I'll continue to check out the sites and forums to see if anyone else has
experiences of this issue.

Many thanks

Is K: drive the Rev drive?

I had a similar issue in the past with a regular external USB drive.
The
client unplugged the power cable of the USB drive and the next day the
backup failed. After restarting the server the problem was solved. I
have to say that this kind of behavior is not consistent. It happened
once again and the backup didn't fail.

Go to disk management and take a look at the drives and whether they
function OK when the error appears. My feeling is that the problem is
with
the USB connection

This is a weird one that I hope someone else has experienced.

I visited a client who is about to change IT Support Providers and the
setup is pretty basic, and should be a pretty simple affair to look
after, except they reported a problem that their current people have
been
unable to figure out, or bother about... they are not quite sure what
it
is!!!

The use the inbuilt MS backup to backup their data to an Iomega 35GB
Rev
drive, and it all appears to work ok, but at times there seems to be
an
error occuring in which the error logs report that it cannot find the
K:
drive that has all their data on it. I cannot find anything in the
event
log to indicate a particular fault, but my gut feeling on this is that
somethign is happening while its attempting to backup and then sort of
having a brain seizure and cannot backup thereafter!

Has anyone else experienced backup issues with this unit at all?

Cheers

Gordon
