RE: Remote Access

Hello Customer,

Thank you for posting here and thanks for Fred's input

According to your description, I understand that you want to make branch
offices to connect to head office and access head office resource. If I
have misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Fred is right, we suggest you set up VPN between branch offices and head
office.

1. Site to Site VPN

The Site to Site VPN request ISA server, so please ensure whether your SBS
include ISA: The SBS 2003 sp1 premium edition include ISA 2004 sp1, but the
SBS 2003 sp1 standard edition does not include ISA server. Of course you
can buy ISA 2004 separately.

The network topology is:
{head office internal client}=={switch}=={SBS 2003
premium}=={route}====[DSL to Internet]===={route}=={SBS 2003 premium or ISA
2004}=={switch}=={branch office internal client}

You can set up site to site VPN between two ISA servers, then the clients
in the branch office can access the head office resource.

2. Client VPN connection

The Client VPN connection do not request ISA server, the SBS server
standard edition is ok. The SBS can uses RRAS as VPN server.

The network topology is:
{head office internal client}=={switch}=={SBS 2003}=={route}====[DSL to
Internet]===={route}=={switch}=={branch office internal client}

This network topology can cut down your budget, you do not have to buy SBS
premium or ISA for each branch office. However, every client in the branch
office has to dial up to VPN Server (SBS) separately.

Hope these steps will give you some help.

Thanks and have a nice day!

| We are running SBS 2003 SP1. We have several remote sites that we are

What

since I
