Re: Veritas Backup Exec question - sbs

There are two distinct areas to Veritas.

You have the client application, and you have the media server.

if the client is not automatically configured to link to the media server
(even if they are both on the same machine) then you will not see anything on
the client.

In the bottom right hand corner of the client, it will either say Not
Connected or it will show the server name.

If it shows not connected then click onto Network the Local Media Server
or, Network -> Media Server then enter all the needed info.

If you are connected, and there are still no logs/jobs or devices, then
veritas has not been set up correctly and will need to be configured.

Any problems then come back to me.

Hi Andrew thanks for the reply,
the services appear to be running, I'm on the server where the
application is installed and am starting the full application. Would I
be right in thinking that I should be able to see the configuration and
job logs ?

if the veritas client is not able to connect to the media server then there
may be an issue with permissions (ie incorrect user account) or the media
server services are not running.

check in the services.msc that all the BackupExec services are running.

if they are not then they prob have not had a backup and if veritas is what
they want (I use it myself in all the coys that I look after) then it may be
worth reinstalling the software
