Veritas Backup Exec question - sbs

Hi,
Quick question, I went to see a new client today that has sbs2003. The server has the above software installed but for the life of me I can't see that it's ever done a backup for them (2 years + !! )
I've not seen this software before, but going into the application shows nothing in the logs, no devices configured etc.
Going into tools/execview/execview console gives me an error that a connection with the server cannot be established. Would this app leave an entry in one of the logs as there's nothing there either ?
I'm googling as we speak for other answers but just thought someone may have a quick answer here.
I'm going to schedule a normal sbs backup tonight just in case.
The server seems ok from what else I can see, however they were told there wasn't an easy way for them to have remote access so I'm a bit wary!
thanks simon
