Hi Giuseppe:.
How many network cards? How is everything connected? Have you run the
CECIW?
Most SBS installs look like this:
workstations =192.168.16..x ->switch-> SBS nic1=192.168.16.2
SBS nic2=192.168.100.2-> router/firewall=192.168.100.1->internet device
(cable modem, dsl, t1, etc)
note that the internet device and the internet side of the router firewall
are on ip ranges provided by the ISP.
Some look like this:
SBS nic->switch->workstations
SBS nic->switch->router/firewall->internet device
where all of these are 192.168.16.x (except for the internet device and the
internet side of the router/firewall.
a router firewall is not needed to do either of these, but it is a serious
security issue to not use one.
In all cases the nic that faces the internet must be on the same sub net as
the device that connects it to the internet. And in the case of two nic
installations, the nics must be on separate subnets, not necessarily the
ones I listed above, but different.
