This may work

depending upon the drive controller.

Thank you Owen.
The KB article you cited says, "You cannot extend the partition if the
pagefile is located on the partition." which it would be. I have given up
on
this idea, and will just move some folders from C: to D: to get a better
balance. I was running low on Free Space on C: The total space on C: is
24.2GB (3.06 Free) and D: is 9.1 GB (8.20 Free). The Exchange Store is on
C:
and is about 9 GB. The Dell PowerEdge 1600SC can accomodate four
additional
drives, so when we reach that point we can add additional drives.
Again thanks for you insight.

I have an SBS2003 with a C: and D: drives on one logical disk. C: an D:
are
Basic disks. I want to verify that I can consolidate to a single C:
drive.
What I understand I need to do is:
1. Backup all data on D: (it is just data - no programs)
2. Delete D: using Disk Management
3: Use DISKPART to extend C: to use the space freed up.
Will this procedure do what I want.
I'm curious why you want to do this since partitioning is usually
recommended with SBS, even if it's a single drive. Among other things,
this helps ensure uncontrolled data growth won't impact the system
partition and lead to a failure of the operating system. It also
enables you to segregate the use of Volume Shadowcopy.
But to your question ... according to this:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/325590
"Only the extension of data volumes is supported. System or boot volumes
may be blocked from being extended, and you may receive the following
error:
Diskpart failed to extend the volume. Please make sure the volume
is valid for extending"
