Re: Moving Exchange databases & logs to different drive on SBS2K3 Prem

Thanks for the additional information Dave. The KB or other info I ran
across showed a regedit that required you to put in the new path to the logs
and files. Ran across it over the weekend but as you have already
successfully done this before, I'm confident that it's not required at this
point.

Will read over your 821915 too.

Thanks again,

Bill

When you refer to a reg edit, are you thinking of increasing the 16 GB
(pre-SP2) or 18 GB (SP2) database size limit? I'm not aware of a reg edit
to move the databases or logs, and I've done it at least a couple of
times. I like to move both the databases and the logs, and I like this KB
better than the one you found:

How to move Exchange databases and logs in Exchange Server 2003

Due to available drive space on the boot/install drive, I need to move
the Exchange 2003 databases (.edb & .stm) files to a different drive.

I pulled the MS KB (270693) which provides the instructions. However, I
seem to remember seeing someplace that there was also a registry hack
that needed to be made to complete the process. The 10/28/06 MS KB makes
no mention of that requirement.

The server is fully patched with all SPs installed. I believe Exchange is
at SP2.

Am I missing something or has the process changed with the SP and the
hack no longer needed?

Also, does anyone know if moving these files will have a negative on the
Trend SMB Client Server Messaging Security version 3.5 ?

Thanks,

Bill Dunn
