When you refer to a reg edit, are you thinking of increasing the 16 GB
(pre-SP2) or 18 GB (SP2) database size limit? I'm not aware of a reg edit
to move the databases or logs, and I've done it at least a couple of times.
I like to move both the databases and the logs, and I like this KB better
than the one you found:
How to move Exchange databases and logs in Exchange Server 2003

Due to available drive space on the boot/install drive, I need to move the
Exchange 2003 databases (.edb & .stm) files to a different drive.
I pulled the MS KB (270693) which provides the instructions. However, I
seem to remember seeing someplace that there was also a registry hack that
needed to be made to complete the process. The 10/28/06 MS KB makes no
mention of that requirement.
The server is fully patched with all SPs installed. I believe Exchange is
at SP2.
Am I missing something or has the process changed with the SP and the hack
no longer needed?
Also, does anyone know if moving these files will have a negative on the
Trend SMB Client Server Messaging Security version 3.5 ?
Thanks,
Bill Dunn
