Susan,
Thanks for reviewing my concerns and I must admit your message got me to
take an in-depth look at how my remote users login. For your information,
this client has a main office with 18 different locations which login to its
server using RWW and OWA. I was asked to ensure that these remote users
could never login to any workstations at the main office using the Remote
Web Workplace. As such, I had given them only authority to login to the SBS
2003 server and to a Guest Workstation located there using the Account | Log
On To option in User properties. This was what caused the problem with IE7
and IWA. As users upgraded their remote workstations to IE7 their ability
to connect to the Companyweb using RWW disappeared with this restriction in
effect. (These offices must be self-sufficient to a large degree, hence the
ability to make administrative changes or to keep their workstations
up-to-date). Once I went into these user's accounts yesterday on the server
and reauthorized them to login in to all workstations, the problem with
connecting to the Companyweb using RWW and IE7 went away. I guess I will
rely on the local workstation's Remote Login (My Computer | Remote | Remote
Desktop) restrictions to prevent these users from logging in to them unless
you know a better way?
Thank you so much for all of your assistance. Please enjoy your weekend...

I use IWA and I don't have this issue... is company web in the trusted site
zone?

My users are experiencing problems connecting to the Company Internal Web
Site (Companyweb) when connected to our SBS 2003 server using Remote Web
Workplace and Internet Explorer 7. When selecting to "Use My Company's
Internal Web Site" IE7 users receive a HTTP 500 error stating "The Web
Site Can Not Display The Page". This error does not occur to users who
use IE6... nor do IE7 users have any problems checking their email using
Remote Web Workplace or Outlook Web Access.
Investigation of this problem on the web seems to indicate that this is
probably due to how IE7 authenticates using Integrated Windows
Authentication (IWA). In fact, inspection of IIS | Companyweb |
Properties | Directory Security | Authentication and Access Control
settings indicates that the Companyweb by default uses IWA to
authenticate access. Of course this is the preferred method as no one
wants to have users authenticate using Basic Authentication which allows
passwords to be sent in clear text. However, IE7 users can not seem to
access the Companyweb using IWA although when authenticating using Basic
Authentication they can connect to the Companyweb successfully.
I guess what my question is "How do I configure the Companyweb or modify
IE7 settings to allow IE7 users to authenticate using IWA? I have
refused to change the Companyweb's default IWA authentication to only
allow Basic Authentication just for IE7 users. I have researched this
error in this forum and on the web and I can not find an acceptable
solution, so any help given is most appreciated. I apologize in advance
if this has been resolved before and I simply did not find it.
