Re: User vs device CALs

Hi Adrian,

The limit is 75 CALs, whether you reach that total with Device CALs, User
CALs or a combination of the two types. This is an absolute limit and not
"concurrent use" as it was in SBS 4.5 and SBS 2000.

I'm wondering if the "lab" has an absolute need to be part of the current
SBS network. Maybe you can split it off into its own SBS network (with its
own SBS server, of course)? With the proper setup, the two networks could
"share" a single Internet connection.

I think you're only other option is to buy and deploy the Transistion Pack
and break away from SBS as a single server environment.

Hi,

I've and SBS2003R1 exch/SP2 server. I've 51 employees of the company,
and around 70 PCs. Each employee has their own PC, and the remaining
PCs are shared within a lab.

I've currently device CALs. The next 12 month view says that the
company will be adding more PCs (lab), but not many more employees.

I'm concerned about reaching the 75CAL limit of SBS if I continue to
purchase Device CALs. I don't have SA, so I dont think I can convert.

Is there anything I can do to alleviate the situation?
