Re: Problem installating SBS2003-KB885918-SP1-X86-ENU

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

hi yes this is the built in admin account which seems corrupted. I do have
another admin account that is not the original that works slightly better ie
I can access exchange system manager but cannot with built in admin. this is
sbs standard edition and I have no 3rd party firewall sw running. I cannot
access backup or monitoring html pages from either acc however. do you know
of an easy way to repair and install a fresh original admin acc?

thanks in advance ben

Service packs do not fix broken administrator accounts.

Are you logged on as the proper administrator when trying to do Windows
add/remove?

I had inherited an account that many of the intranet pages would not
work. That means the monitoring, backup and other pages. I tried many
things over a few days. I finally was forced to enable the second nic,
toss out the linux firewall router, and install ISA 2004. All the
intranet stuff worked after that. Note that my administrator account
worked fine. I think you need to make sure your administrator account is
good before you do anything else.

You can call Microsoft for support. hey will assist you solving one
problem for a flat rate of $245 US. Note that it is one problem.
Sometimes my idea of one problem and their idea of one problem are not
the same.

I have a problem installing this service pack in SBS. I have included the
log file below:

The main reason I want to service pack SBS is that the built in
administrator account seems corrupt, for example if I try to run windows
setup to reinstall components in add/remove progs it just bombs out. I want
to reinstall as my backup wizard is not displaying properly (page cannot be
displayed) and also monitoring wizard is broken too with the same error.

Please can you help?

I have succesfully deployed windows server 2003 sp1
