SBS also does not make the best platform on which to run any virtual
environment, if there is an alternative I'd strongly suggest using it.

VMPlayer only needs a workstation.

I'd be a lot more comfortable using some seriously heiney kickin x64 box
with >4GB RAM and running SBS in the virtual environment than virtual under
SBS.

Yes, it installs. It likes a lot of RAM, and it is not a best practice
because of security concerns, but it works.

When you try to install vmware on the server vmware worns not to instaal
on a domain controller.

I can see the thought process on my post.....was asking about something that I have yet to do and wanted to make sure that - although this is an environment that we just took over and have little to do with the current situation - I did not make something worse.... ... that the SBS box holds all five FSMO Roles ... that - if we are talking SBS2008 - the SBS box is a DHCP Server ... You just have to purchase the additional software and appropriate number of CALs as the second MS Exchange or MS SQL would clearly not be covered by the SBS CALs. ...
