| Hi Terence,
|
| Many thanks for your post.

|
| Yes. The 501 Error however, is a positive outcome of a test included in
the
| MS document " Step-by-step guide to deploying MS ex Server 2003 SP2
Mobile
| messaging with windows mobile 5.0 based devices"
|

|
| This could cause problems as I using the current certificate for Outlook
| WebAccess and some of my clients are out of country and dependant on it!
The
| certificate seems fine. I've imported it into my home office PC and it
| allows me to reach OWA without any certificate error. It also seems to
have
| been succesfully imported into the SPV PDA as the certificate error i
used to
| have when trying to access Push email doesnt occur. I can email you a
cert
| if you would like to have a look?
|
| For info, the certificate seems to have the following OUs
|
| CN = home.CompanyName.com
| CN = companyweb
| CN = server-01
| CN = localhost
| CN = server-01.CompanyName.local
|
| > 3. When navigating to the Firewall page, select "Enable firewall" and
click
| > Next (I suppose you have 2 network adapters in SBS 2003).
|
| I do not have 2 network adapters. I use a router/firewall to handle
| firewall duties. This is enabled to allow 443 SSL trafic (port 80
inward is
| blocked) and it redirects the static IP to the servers internal IP. This
is
| evidenced by the sucessful use of OWA by external users.
|
| > 5. On the "Web Services Configuration" page, make sure "Allow access to
the

access

|
| Ah, this is different to my setup. They do not need access to the
Business
| Website, sharepoint or remote web workplace. Which specific one is
needed
| for Push email? From Memory, all outlook/email options are selected but
will
| check when got access.

|
| I'm using the FQDN home.companyname.com (obviously companyname has been
| changed!)
|
| > Step 2: The error often happens when the authentication method is not

directory.
|
| This could well be the issue. I will check the current settings against
| what you've provided when I get access to the server.
|
| > 1. Does issue happen to accessing mailbox by OMA? For further test,
please
| > login Exchange Server itself, and access URL: http://SBS_Server/OMA,

|
| Will do when I get access tomorrow.
|
| > 2. Try to access OMA from Internet via https://mail.xyz.com/oma, is it
fine?
|
| I can do this from my PC. It asks for a username and login then gives "
| Outlook(R) Mobile Access is supported only on Microsoft(R) Exchange
Server
| 2003. Currently your mailbox is stored on an older version of Exchange
| server. Please contact your system administrator for additional
assistance."
| I understand this to be the correct behaviour?
|
| > 3. Do all the users have such issue or just specific users? Please
create a
| > new mail-enabled user and verify whether he can access mailbox by
| > ActiveSync.
|
| I've tried this with two SPV PDAs and two user accounts and wasnt
| successful in either case. Will try with a new account if the settings
check
| doesnt fix things
|
| Will try your further suggestions and send debug info if settings check
| doesnt work.
|
| Many MANY thanks. Will let you know outcome of checks
|
| Regards
| John
