True, true. The client(s) in use makes a big difference in what works and
what doesn't. Kinda figured an all Netware shop would just be using the NW
client.

My experience with Netware was extensive going back to the 2.0 days but
died out after 5.x and declining market. I don't know what version you are
running and with what addons like Zen etc but if it is 6.x I would ask in
Novell forums. I can tell you that with XP Pro WS running the MS Client
foe Netware along with MS Client for Windows you get single logon to
Windows Domain and Netware NDS servers thru 5.x including the running of
both Novell and Windows login Scripts as long as you keep the user names
and passwords synched. With only 5 users that shouldn't be difficult. Be
sure your mapped drives don't conflict. I can't remember if there is a way
to keep them synched automagically.
If you have to use the Novell Client then ask in the Novell Forums.
I never ran into kj's issues but I used MS client not Novell client.

Thanks for that Frank.
Does the Services for Netware keep the usernames and password in AD
automatically synchronised with the ones in NDS? Do you know if it is a
purchased product or can it be downloaded? It would be ideal if the
customer
only had to admin one DS.

Hi Darwood
Yes if user names and passwords are the same you can simultaneous logon
to
both networks. Be careful on the LOB app though because TS is disabled
in
application mode on SBS and data can be stored but users cannot logon to
server and run programs.

Can we just drop an SBS server into an existing Netware environment?
Can the clients continue to login to the Netware network (NDS?) but
also
access the Windows server? How does the integration work particularly
with
a
view to Director Services/login? I see that there is a free MS
download
called "Service for Netware 5.03" but I'm not sure if that is required
and
if
it is just an add-on for a bought product or a full product for
download.
We have a customer who has an existing Netware environment that he is
happy
with and doesn't want to start messing around with at the moment. He
does
however want 5 users out of the existing 17 to run an accounting
package
that
will only run on a Windows Server. Not particularly bothered about the
features of SBS such as Exchange but SBS is a lower entry cost for him
than a
standard W23 server.
