Re: After password change - cannot access shares on server

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Most likley due to workstation locally stored "user accounts and passwords"

On the workstation, (under the users account), control panel, users. Click
the "advanced" tab, and then "manage passwords".

Remove any entries you find for domain resources. Log out and back on.

Hello.

I have a re-occurring problem with SBS 2003.

Problem happens after changing password. This problem happens sometimes,
not
all the time.

I change a password in active directory for a user account.
The user can log in to the domain ok with the new password, but after that
they have no access to any resources on the server. No access to shared
folders, profile folder, email, etc. The user does authenticate with the
SBS
server to log in, no problem there. But after that, a login prompt comes
up
when trying to access a share. Login results in an error that the user
does
not have permission to access the resource. They can, however, access
shares
on other workstations that are part of the domain.

The only way I have found to correct the problem is to rename the original
account, create a new account, then move the mailbox to the new account,
set
permissions on the users folders on the server etc. so the user can access
things again. Re-setting the password again, removing user permissions and
granting them again does nothing.

I do not understand exactly what is getting corrupt.

I am wondering if anyone can explain what the problem is, why it is
happening, and if there is another way to correct it without re-creating
accounts and moving mailboxes etc.

Thanks for your help and have a good day.

KT
