Hello Customer,
Thanks for posting here.
Based on my research, on the root of C drive there was a hidden config.msi
folder which was created by a MSI installer for a previous failed
installation of another application. If the folder does exist in the ISA
box, please try renaming that folder to config.msi.old. To view hidden
folder, please click Tools->Folder Options, go to the View tab, and then
change the option "Hidden files and folders" to "Show hidden files and
folders".
Detailed steps:
1. Open explorer and navigate to the location of your config.msi folder
(this is a hidden system folder created by the MSI installation, located on
the root of the C: drive by default)
2. Remove the read-only and system flags from the folder
3. Rename the folder to config.msi.old
4. Restart the installation
Will the problem be resolved?
If the problem still persists, please go through the following steps:
1. Enable MSI logging. Refer KB2223300
(http://support.microsoft.com/?id=223300)
(Remember to turn it off, as it might result in high disk usage)
2. Run verbose logging on the firewall installation from the CMD console
using the
following command:
msiexec.exe /i D:\ISA2004\FPC\MS_FPC_SERVER.msi /l* c:\isa.txt
3. Run the ISA2004 Setup Wizard for the remaining ISA2004 components.
4. Then test the issue.
If the problem still persists, let's schedule a down time and perform a
Clean Boot on the ISA Server. A Clean Boot will allow us to isolate any
device drivers or programs that are loading at startup that may be causing
a conflict with other device drivers or programs that are installed in your
computer.
A. Click Start, click Run, type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks)
and click OK.
B. Select "Selective Startup" and remove the check box for "Load Startup
Items".
C. On the "Services" tab, click Enable All.
D. Check "Hide all Microsoft Services", click Disable All and clear "Hide
all Microsoft Services".
E. Click the OK button and then Click Yes to restart your computer.
F. Try to reinstall the ISA Server 2004.
Meanwhile, please help me gather the following info for further
troubleshooting:
1. Please send me the ISAWRAP_*.log file.
2. Try to launched the ISA 2004 MSI package manually and install ISA from:
<cd drive>:\ISA2004\FPC\MS_FPC_SERVER.MSI
Is it fine?
3. Please use the Networking MPS report to collect the server event logs
and other configuration info:
a. Download MPSreport_network from
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE
b. Run MPSRPT_NETWORK.exe on the server box.
c. The tool will automatically collect the information. This procedure will
take 10~15 minutes.
d. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder:
%SystemRoot%\MPSReports\Network\Reports\Cab\
e. Send the .cab file directly to my mailbox: v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hope the above info helps. Please feel free to let me know if there is
anything unclear.
Have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)
