Well, I am glad to here that it is working fine. I don't have time to watch
the news, but I will go Google the bananas thing.

I'm enjoying the running commentary ... thanks gentlemen :-)
I didn't call Jeff for a couple of reasons ...
1. I live in Australia
2. It is the weekend and i guessed Jeff would not be working
3. I needed an answer and I knew there were some very intelligent people
here who could point me in the right direction, and
4. I'm not a technician, and i don't make a living from this, so I didn't
need to understand HOW or WHY it worked ... just WHAT I needed to do to
get
this thing done.
As it happens, it is now 4:22am ... and after 31 hours over the weekend, I
have a brand spanking new migrated server and 5 client computers - fully
updated, loaded with WSUS, tested and ready to roll.
I appreciate the help I've had over the weekend - you guys are worth your
weight in bananas (for those of you familiar with recent events in
Australia).
Thanks again
James

Yes Gregg, I didn't mean to pick on you, it was random circumstance
which
put your post in the spotlight for me to point out.
It's just 'one of those things' OK? With increasing frequency I see
questions go unanswered with instead 'you should ask xyz', this is OK
where the question really should be asked of xyz but I like to see both
problem and resolution in this group, for the benefit of the group.

I gave the same response that I have seen a dozen other times, without
you
saying you did not like it. The OP would have learned a LOT more about
the
swing method had he actually called Jeff, because my conversations with
Jeff were never just a short answer, but got quite in depth. Too bad
the
OP missed out on that opportunity.

though valid I don't like this form of response.
Yes, the OP should contact Jeff or ask in the sbsmigration.com
forums,
and expect a quick response. However, asking here is valid, there are
enough Swing users participating in the group to make this
worthwhile.
I don't have access to current Swing documentation so cannot quote
page
or section but please review the documentation to remove the original
SBS from the migrated AD.
It seems a bit wierd to me though, the error suggests "The specified
user already exists" rather than 'all DC's cannot be contacted'
(which I
would expect if the original SBS had not been fully removed from the
migrated AD).

Call Jeff. He provides support for your migration.

hi,
I am about half way through one of Jeff Middleton's famed Swing
Migrations
... I have transferred the AD across to a TempDC, disconnected from
the
original production domain, and am trying to connect the NewSBSDC
server to
the TempDC domain.
The problem i am facing is that when I try to ad the NewSBSDC to
the
domain
(become a member of ... enter admin user and pass etc) I get an
error
message
that says "The specified user already exists".
I have read through numerous posts here and after bit of searching
on
the
TempDC have discovered that the OriginalDCServer is still listed as
a
Domain
Controller on the TempDC AD.
I am guessing that should not be the case and that it needs to be
purged ...
however not sure how to go about removing it from the TempDC AD.
Sure would appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction.
Thanks
James
