Re: Slow open files and brows network in external office

There have been lots of slow file transfer posts over the years. Google
that. Look to see about the transfer rate on your nic's, look to see if
there are multiple AV scans going on.

All PC's?

What about login speed. Should be "eye blink". If serveral minutes, like
file transfer, suspect DNS.

Hi Anders:

File tranfers:
This sounds like the link is being crunched for bandwidth. From each
location have you run any speed tests to internet test servers? What to
they indicate you upload speeds to be, since when you download from one
end
you must upload from the other.

Browsing:
browsing is dependent upon name resolution. If you can ping by IP, can
you
ping by name? Do you have a properly configured DNS server at each end,
and
it would not hurt to add WINS at each end as well.

Lastly, without more info, I don't think you made this mistake, but the
IP
address at each end should be in different subnets, such as
192.XXX.XXX.XXX
at the main office, and 10.XXX.XXX.XXX at the remote.
