Mail hosting and SMTP
Frontbridge or Exchangedefender
Better of both worlds.

About a month ago I posted about a SBS2k3 server that stoppedI now realize that the APC software uses the smtp server from the ISP
sending me daily email reports for seemingly no reason.
It was not resolved and now a second server, at another location and
completely unrelated location, has also stopped sending the daily
email reports.
Exchange is not used on either server (aprox 10 users use pop email
services). They both still send out error messages from the battery
backup device (Advance Power Conversion, APC, business edition
software running).
If there are no error where should I begin to try to resolve this?
Thank you!
to send out its messages and SBS2k3 uses exchange. So this is likely
an Exchange issue.
What wizard would reconfigure or repair exchange? And can this be done remotely or will I loose my remote (RWW)Did you install Exchange when you ran the SBSSetup? If you have the source files for SBS copied to your server's HD, or have a DVD & someone on site can stick it in for you, you can re-run sbssetup.exe and install Exchange, although it's something I'd personally rather do in person at the console. And then you can get rid of your icky POP mail setup, too. :)
connection while trying to repair it remotely. Thank you.
ps. Knock if you want, but if your office building was blacked out, internet disabled, and had no physical access for over two weeks (thanks to 9/11 attacks) then you might have a different view about the value of a in house email hosting. Particularly for an office of just about a dozen users. We are not using Exchange and the miserable POP connectoid, just POP directly so we can get emails promptly, not ever 15 minuets. If Exchange improved the POP connectoid then we could have the best of both worlds, but you can not seriously use Exchange with the POP connectiod.
